AIDS Patients

  • ABC Quilts- make quilts for babies born HIV-positive, suffering from effects of parental drug use, or who are abandoned.
  • The AIDS Memorial Quilt

  • Children's Hope Foundation- Help improve the quality of life for children, youth and their families affected by HIV and AIDS by donating new blankets and clothing.

  • Animals

  • Cage Comforter Program- Enlists volunteer sewers to make small comforters for kittens, cats and small dogs.
  • Critter Knitters Coalition- We are in need of master -- or amateur -- knitters, crocheters, sewers and quilters to create 18" x 18" -- or larger -- blankets to improve the lives of the millions of animals taken in by city shelters throughout New York.
  • German Shepherd Dog Rescue of Houston- Make items to be auctioned on ebay. All funds raised go directly to the care of the dogs.
  • House of Dreams- A non-profit, all volunteer operated no-kill cat shelter located in the Parkrose area of Portland that accepts blankets and cat beds.
  • Hugs for Homeless Animals- Donate a little of your time and your leftover scraps of yarn or fabric to make snuggles for your local humane societies and animal shelters.
  • Leader Dogs For The Blind/Paws With A Cause Quilt- Make a quilt to be auctioned off. The money will then be donated to Leader Dogs For The Blind or Paws With A Cause.
  • United Yorkie Rescue- Making items for rescued dogs, like small blankets, quilts, afgans, sweaters, shirts, diapers, mats, beds, toys, etc.




  • Babies

  • A Baby's Angel- We hand-craft (crochet, knit, and sew) baby blankets, clothes,hats, booties, etc. and work with several Michigan hospitals to provide warm outfits for those that are so tiny

  • Afghans for Angels - Headquaters- Homemade blankets for grieving families who've lost a baby.
  • Afghans for Angels - Idaho- Our "angel blankets" are wrapped lovingly around infants who have died through miscarriage, stillbirth or other infant death. Our blankets are given to parents to give them something to hold in the difficult years ahead. Blankets, supplies, and tax-deductible donations are accepted.
  • Afghans for Angels - NY- Homemade blankets for grieving families who've lost a baby.
  • Afghans for Angels of Virginia- Create bereavement gift sets to be used in the event of an infant death through miscarriage, stillbirth or other forms of infant and early childhood death.
  • Angel Hugs- Knit or crochet items for babies, children and adults that have suffered a severe trauma or serious life threatening illness.
  • Angels of Love Charity, Inc.- An all-volunteer organization that makes and donates basic, essential layettes for newborn babies in crisis situations...prematurity, illness, need. Based in FL.
  • Barb's Caring Touch- A group of volunteers who crochet, knit, and/or sew, providing handmade baby items to hospitals. All items are given free to infants and their parents.
  • Binky Patrol- Blankets delivered to children and teens who are ill or abused, experiencing trauma or loss.
  • Bonnie Babies-A vouluntary group of ladies who knit, crochet and sew for special baby care units.
  • Bundles of Love- Provide bedding, necessities and clothing for needy infants and premature infants in Minnesota.
  • Cans for Clothes- Provide clothing and bedding for premature babies.
  • Caps for Kids- Providing needy children with cozy hats to keep them warm.
  • Care Wear- A nationwide group of volunteers who knit, crochet, and/or sew, providing handmade baby items to hospitals.
  • Caring 4 Canadians- A small group making tiny items for the preemie babies in the NICU at St. Joseph's Hospital in London, Ontario. We also make items for Canadian soldiers overseas.
  • Comforting Special Angels/Jesus One- Volunteers make blankets (crocheted, knitted, or sewn) for "special needs" babies of all ages (birth to 99+)
  • The Congenital Heart Defects Awareness Quilt Project- Volunteer quilters and heart families around the globe who are united in promoting greater public awareness of congenital heart disorders, the number one birth defect in the USA with one in every 120 babies born with a CHD.
  • Crochet Angels- A group of caring individuals who are dedicated to helping the Oakwood Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
  • Crochet Cabana- Sew, knit or crochet afghans for preemies in Louisianna.
  • Crochet Friends Charity- Crochet Friends charity collects chemo caps sizes 2 years old to adult and caps and booties for babies and takes them to Children's Hospital in Cincinnati, OH.
  • Cuddles Page- Help new-borns and their families by providing knitted and crocheted items.
  • Faith, Hope and Charity Stitches, Inc. - Ohio chapter of Threads of Love. Sew for babies.
  • Granny Hugs- We make afghans and burial layettes, hat, booties, gowns, and mittens for little angels who are in NICU units. These tiny souls are born without the fat padding they need to stay warm.
  • The Happy Hearts!- We provide Lorain Community Hospital and other nearby hospitals with newborn baby hats and items. We also support the Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland.
  • HeartFelt Angels- Crochet, knit, sew, quilt, etc. handmade baby items for area (Virginia) hospitals. These items are given to families in many different situations.
  • Hearts for God-Our present mission is to deliver handmade items for premature babies and children in crises due to physical illness or emotional distress.
  • The Little Angels Project- Provide clothing for needy babies in hospitals and shelters across the country.
  • Gifts for the Unborn- Offers small gifts (baby booties and socks) to mothers when they first test positive in a crisis pregnancy.
  • Heavenly Angels in Need- Donate to NICU's and at risk pregnacy centers.

  • Needful Things for Preemie Babies- Make items for preemie babies.
  • Newborns in Need- Your donations of time, sewing notions, and money to help alleviate the suffering of tiny helpless babies is greatly needed and appreciated.
  • Olivia's Angels- Provide clothing and other necessity items to babies in southeast Georgia who would otherwise lack such items
  • Pediatric Infant Care Center (PICC)- Sew layettes, sleepers, t-shirts and thermal receiving blankets for babies suffering from effects of parental drug use. Kent, Washington.
  • Precious Preemies Tiny Toes- Our goal is to warm the tiny bodies of preemies who are in the fight for thier lives. We crochet, knit and sew angel layettes, hats, booties, diaper shirts, afghans, and other special needs.
  • Project Angel Kisses- Donate crocheted, knitted or sewn hats, booties, afghans and gowns to the precious preemies at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, TX or your local hospital.
  • Project Hope Afghan- Help warm pediatric patients during treatment.
  • Quilts from Caring Hands- Sew quilts for children ages newborn to 18 in the Oregon's Willamette Valley area.
  • Ray of Hope- We are a group of ladies (and occasionally gentlemen) who knit,crochet and/or sew for our local Maternity and Neonatal unit at Leighton Hospital, Crewe, Cheshire, UK
  • Redlands Community Hospital- Make baby quilts.
  • Remner Family Foundation - We are in need of small burial outfits (0-3 lbs), baby blankets, extra small booties and bonnets, adult and youth size cancer caps, and adult sized lap quilts. Sacramento, CA

  • Warm Hearts~Warm Babies- Makes clothing, blankets and other essential items, for premature & newborn infants, and young children in crisis, in the state of Colorado.
  • Webb-Babies- Dedicated to providing the babies in neonatal intensive care units with blankets and knit/crocheted clothing at no cost to the families.

  • ChemoCaps- Make hand-knit caps for cancer patients in hospital oncology units and hospice programs.
  • ComfortCaps- Hats for cancer patients who are undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
  • Crochet Friends Charity- Crochet Friends charity collects chemo caps sizes 2 years old to adult and caps and booties for babies and takes them to Children's Hospital in Cincinnati, OH.
  • CuzWeCare, Inc- An organization dedicated to bringing comfort through neck pillows to cancer patients, dialysis patients, or to any patient that needs to sit for any extended length of time in order to receive their treatment.
  • Dragonfly's Delights- A non profit dedicated to the creation and distribution of free gift baskets to those recently diagnosed with breast cancer in Northern New Mexico.
  • Graceful Stitches- Knit elegant, hand-made scarves and accessories to be sold to raise funds for cancer research.
  • Happy Hats & LapGhans- Make hats for cancer patients.
  • The Hat Box- Provide hats for children that have lost their hair due to cancer. The Hat Box is a Girl Scout Silver Award project.
  • Hats Off For Cancer- Make hats for bright and fun new hats for children with cancer.
  • Hats Off to Chemo- Hats are given to children and adults who are undergoing chemptherapy treatment.
  • Head Huggers- Use your knitting, crocheting and sewing skills to help someone who has undergone hair loss due to chemotherapy, brain surgery, burn wounds, etc.
  • Kaps 4 Karing-We hope to crochet many caps for chemotherapy patients in the coming years. Our goal is to help those who are living with cancer be more comfortable and confident in themselves.
  • Knit for the Cure Minnesota- A coalition of seven distinctive yarn shops that are located across the Twin Cities metro area. The seven shops with the help of a select group of generous yarn manufacturers and distributors are proud to be a sponsor of the Susan G. Komen Foundation's annual Race For The Cure.

  • Knitting Pals By the Bay- Knit chemo caps for children, teens and adults who have cancer. We use soft yarn, and knit in the round so the caps have no seams and are comfortable.

  • Nana's Angels- Nana's Angels is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to sending hats and small soft toys to children being treated with cancer.

  • Operation Help the Children- Our group members join to together to do various crafts such as crocheting that help children around the world.

  • The Red Scarf Project- Knit red scarves to be sold as a fundraiser to help Chinese orphans.

  • Stitches of Love and Kindness- A completely non-profit organisation that makes quilts for children and adults with long-term illnesses.

  • Trauma Teddy- Knit teddy bears to be donated through the Red Cross to traumatized children and adults.

Orphanages in many of these countries are struggling to provide for the overwhelming number of children in their care.

  • Heart to Heart- Hand knit or hand crocheted articles for donation to Boston hospitals in the spring. They include burial garments for stillborns and AIDS babies and afghans for the parents of those babies to keep as mementos.
  • Heavenly Angels- Seeking to provide comfort to families who have lost a child during pregnancy or in early childhood by providing memorial quilts which feature the child's name.
  • Helping Hands of Wounded Knee- Helps families on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Donations of baby items, winter items and blankets for the elderly are especially needed. Knitted, crocheted and sewn clothes and accessories of all kinds and sizes are accepted.
  • Helping Our Lakota Families- Group helping Lakota Families on Pine Ridge Reservation, SD. The two poorest counties in the US are on this reservation. All types of clothing, baby items, afghans, lap robes and quilts needed.
  • Knit & Crochet for the Shelter- A new cap, a warm scarf or mittens, a handmade toy (or store-bought) would make a world of difference to a kid who is having to celebrate the holidays away from home.
  • The Knitting Connection- The Knitting Connection's mission is to support children and families with crafted items utilizing the artistic talents of volunteer knitters, crocheters, and quilters.
  • Knitting For The Neighborhood- A group of volunteer knitters who work together to provide hats, mittens, afghans, blankets, scarves and socks for needy people in the Columbia and Greene Counties in New York State.
  • National Relief Charities- In South Dakota, where the winter temperatures reach –60 F, thousands of coats, mittens, boots, socks, and hats for children; also, coats, gloves, hats, scarves for adults and elderly could be used.
  • The Salvations Army- Find your local Salvation Army headquarters to donate homemade clothing and toys.
  • Sunshine Foundation - A Mennonite-affiliated, non-profit agency providing residential and support services to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
  • Supporting Pine Ridge Reservation SD- A group supporting the residents of Pine Ridge Reservation. All types of blankets, clothing for all ages, household items, mittens, hats, scarves, slippers and afghans are welcomed.
  • Take to the Hills- A San Diego-based project that collects clothing, blankets, medical and school supplies and delivers them directly to villages in the Sierra Madre mountains of northern Mexico.






  • Homeless

  • Crochet or Knit Projects for the Homeless- Please dig out your scraps of yarn and make one hat or a pair of mittens for our homeless. If you don't have the time to make a hat please send a skein of yarn!
  • Hats 4 the Homeless- Donate hats, scarves and gloves for the homeless in New York.
  • Helping Hands- Please help the homeless at the Boise Rescue Mission, Boise, Idaho, or those in crisis in your own area.
  • Keep Canada Warm- Provide warm handmade blankets for the homeless. These articles will be distributed to people on the streets of Canada.
  • Knitters for Melbourne's Needy- Give the abused, battered and homeless a new garment to keep them warm, to show that someone cared and to help raise their self esteem.
  • Stitching Hope- Initial goal is to provide blankets for the homeless and for battered women's shelters and for children.
  • Ugly Quilts for the Homeless- Make a sleeping bag from scraps, old clothes, bedspreads, and any material you can spare to then be given to the homeless.
  • Warming Families- Make blankets for families and individuals in Homeless Shelters and Domestic Violence Shelters worldwide.




  • Military

  • Caring 4 Canadians- A small group making tiny items for the preemie babies in the NICU at St. Joseph's Hospital in London, Ontario. We also make items for Canadian soldiers overseas.
  • Christmas-at-Sea- Make scarves, watch caps, and sweaters for mariners who are far from home on Christmas day.
  • Operation Toasty Toes- Knitting slipper socks for our servicemen and women serving overseas.

  • Senior Citizens

  • Friends to Seniors- Cross stitch squares to create lap quilts to be donated to residential homes throughout the UK, and pillows, to be donated to individuals.




  • Third World Countries

  • afghans for Afghans- A humanitarian and educational people-to-people project that is sending hand-knit and crocheted blankets to the beleaguered people of Afghanistan.
  • Latter-day Saint Humanitarian Center- This center welcomes donations of durable knitted or crocheted items including slippers, booties, scarves, mittens, hats, afghans, toys, etc.; topical sore bandages (leper bandages); children's clothing.
  • Lifeline of Hope- Quilting for Orphans, a program where kind hearted ladies make beautiful warm quilts that lifeline of hope sends to orphans around the world.
  • Lutheran World Relief- LWR accepts quilts and layettes for distribution to needy people all over the world.
  • Magic Mongolian Mittens and Mufflers- We are gathering hand knit (or crocheted) mittens, gloves and scarves (mufflers) from around the world to send to The Lotus Children’s Centre.   • A Gift of Love- Donating needed items (hats, mittens, socks, slippers, blankets, afghans, sweaters, scarves, booties) to many locations around the world.
  • Angels for Hope- Crochet angels are available free of charge to those who are severely injured and/or chronically ill, as well as their caregivers, or just someone that needs hope - as a tangible reminder that you are not alone, that others care, and that we remember you in our thoughts and prayers.
  • Blankets for Canada Society- A non-denominational organization devoted to creating blankets for those Canadians who need the warmth they provide.
  • Caring Connection- Simple Gifts links people with creative gifts to community needs.
  • Charitable Crafters- A Duluth, MN based group of people that knit, sew, quilt, crochet, and spin for charitable organizations in the Duluth-Superior area.
  • Circles of Hope- Crochet circles (AKA granny's daughter) to be made into afghans. Given to a variety of charities.
  • Heartmade Blessings- Donate squares for afghans, baby afghans or shawls, pins, cuddles, and other hand-crafted items for people who need to be reminded that people care.
  • National Charity League- A non-profit national organization of mothers and daughters who join together in community involvement within local chapters throughout the United States.
  • Shelia's Shawls- Join knitters from around the country to knit shawls-a universal symbol of warmth, comfort, and protection. These shawls will be auctioned off to raise funds for the Sheila Wellstone Fellowship in the School of Social Work and the Silent Witness National Initiative.
  • SunShine Quilt Guild- Providing sturdy, useful quilts to those in need.
  • SpiritMenders- Provide donated items to local (Nebraska) Crisis Center, Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Community Action, Northwest Community Advocacy Agency and Happy Tails.
  • UFO-rphanage for Quilters- Donate your ‘UnFinished Object’ to be completed and then given to a good home.
  • Warm Up America- Create a warm afghan blanket for someone in need.
  • Wool Works- Lists organizations that accept donations of finished knitted goods or in some cases, knitting supplies.
  • ZigZag's Helping Hands- A Proud Division of Helping Hands in the Mid-Missouri area. Needs donations of material for clothing and quilts! Part of Helping Hands.
